Fans disappointed as Fox cancels The Resident after six seasons
Are you disappointed to see this show come to an end?
A major Fox series has been officially canceled after six seasons - and it’s fair to say that the show’s fans are disappointed! EW revealed that The Resident, a popular medical drama, will end after six seasons.
The news comes after the latest season revealed the show’s latest viewership so far, with a 27 per cent decrease in viewership from season five. Eagle-eyed fans had already guessed that the news may have been coming after spotting props on the show sold in a prop liquidation sale back in March.
Taking to Twitter to discuss, one person wrote: "My favorite show ending is the worst thing in the world. I am sad and heartbroken this show brought me so much happiness," while another person added: "Only real friends texted me to make sure I was okay after this news."
The cancelation comes two years after Captain America: Civil War star Emily VanCamp left the show following season four. In an interview with Deadline, she said: "I loved doing The Resident so much for the four years I was on it. Oftentimes you hear about someone exiting a show because something bad had happened or there was some bad blood. But in this case, it’s the exact opposite.

I’m grateful that I was met with understanding and compassion." Other Fox shows including911 and 911: Lone Star have yet to receive news of renewal or cancelation just yet - so we’ll keep our fingers crossed!
