Kate Hudson's early life
Kate Hudson, the daughter of the Oscar-winning actress Goldie Hawn and her now ex-husband, comedian-musician Bill Hudson, was born on April 19, 1979, in Los Angeles and raised from the age of three by Goldie and the veteran entertainer's longtime partner, Hollywood star Kurt Russell.
Kate is the only daughter of four children in the household, growing up with brother Oliver, two years her senior, Boston, Kurt's son from a previous relationship, and Wyatt, Goldie's son with Kurt. A small role in a 1996 episode of the US TV family drama was followed by a Tommy Jeans ad campaign in 1997, the same year she graduated from Crossroads, a Santa Monica performing arts school. Despite the fact that her Tinseltown parents discouraged her from embarking on a showbiz career, she postponed enrolling in a New York university in order to pursue acting.

Kate met the Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson at a New York City party in May 2000 and the pair hit it off. The couple wed on New Year's Eve 2000 at Goldie and Kurt's Colorado home in a romantic white winter-themed ceremony. Four years later they welcomed a new member of the family, a son called Ryder Russell Robinson, in January, 2004.
In August 2006, Kate's spokesperson announced the couple, who had been together for six years, had made the decision to separate and their divorce was finalized on October 22, 2007.
