“.@houstonpolice say Alan Hayes tried to run but was arrested. He’s charged w DWI & a felony for not stopping to help Jacob. Hayes was charged w DWI in 2014 and 2015, as well. I’m getting ready to speak with Jacob’s family about his stolen life.”

Speaking about the tragedy, Jacob’s sister April said: "I immediately ran to him and called 911 And that was it." She added: “Knowing we had that experience [Taylor’s concert]  as our last memory is something wonderful to hold on to, and I will forever.”

A GoFundMe has been made in Jacob’s name. The young man was a keen fan of Pokémon, and the community is raising money in his name. The description reads: “As the Pokémon Community of Houston, we are raising funds in honor of Jacob Lewis. He is the son of Steve Lewis, a prominent leader within the Houston Pokémon scene.

“Jacob Lewis spent many years playing the Pokemon TCG in the Houston area. He had completed the World Championships, the highest-level event, for many years. Because of this, he has inspired many others to strive for more. Steve is one of the trusted and knowledgeable people within Houston regarding Pokémon. A true leader of the community. It hurts us to see him suffer such a loss.” The fund is currently at nearly $10,000.
